To reflect objectively on the Oris phenomenon while belonging to its inner circle is not simple, maybe even impossible. What began as an idea shared by a few friends – enthusiasts, Andrija Rusan, Damir Fabijanić, Sanja Filep, Ante Nikša Bilić, and Ante Rašić, has grown during its 20 years of existence into a complex venture that, besides the basic magazine for architecture and culture, includes a large Zagreb symposium, the Days of Oris, as well as smaller ones in cities such as Dubrovnik, Poreč, Mostar, Lošinj, Ljubljana, and Belgrade. Some specific Days of Oris were also held – the Spanish, the Finnish, the Japanese, the Portuguese, and the French. Over time, Oris has hosted more than 300 lecturers, including those of several Pritzker Award winners: Glenn Murcutt, Rafael Moneo, SANAA, Álvaro Siza, RCR Architects. Since 2015, a forum has also been initiated, The Oris House of Architecture, with a variety of programmes, including exhibitions, lectures, and presentations. After the first exhibition of works by Croatian and world architects close to Oris, which opened on January 30, 2015, about 30 exhibitions followed, most of them architectural, but also artistic, and each exhibition was accompanied with a smaller catalogue. The publishing activity has also been extended to publishing books with architectural themes (Contemporary Croatian Architecture – Testing Reality, Randić&Turato: The Architecture of Transition, Architectural Guide Zagreb 1898 - 2010, The Continuity of Modernity, Two Architects, Images of Ivan, Bruno Milić – Discovering the Artist, Remembering the Architect, Jagoda Buić – L'equilibrio asincrono, Proarh, and the especially valuable edition of Transcending Oppositions – Tadao Ando's Recent Works, realized in close collaboration with Tadao Ando).
